Flash 2A View Moment: “Death is not the greatest loss in life. The greatest loss is what dies inside while still alive. Never surrender.” ― Tupac Shakur

"All Eyez " was on Tupac Amaru Shakur;
known by his stage names 2Pac and Makaveli, was an American rapper. In addition to his status as a top-selling recording artist, Shakur was a successful film actor and a prominent social activist. He is recognized in the Guinness Book of World Records as the highest-selling rap artist, with over 75,000,000 albums sold worldwide, including over 50,000,000 in the United States.

Most of Shakur's songs are about growing up amid violence and hardship in ghettos, racism, problems in society and conflicts with other rappers. Shakur's work is known for advocating political, economic, social and racial equality.

Shakur's debut album, 2Pacalypse Now, gained critical recognition and backlash for its controversial lyrics. Shakur became the target of lawsuits and experienced other legal problems. Later, he was shot five times and robbed in the lobby of a recording studio in New York City. Following the event, Shakur grew suspicious that other figures in the rap industry had prior knowledge of the incident and did not warn him; the controversy helped spark the East Coast-West Coast hip hop rivalry.

                                                     "Expletive You"

On September 7, 1996, Shakur was shot four times in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas.
Stories that Shakur is still alive persist today, despite the overwhelming evidence to the contrary. Since then, his story has become legend.

For any population who feels that they don’t have folks to speak for them, there’s always the hope that an icon like Tupac still exists. And when you hear Tupac’s music today, it reignites that hope; it reignites that wish that he was still around. And through his music, he will always be around. They didn’t want Tupac Shakur to be a martyr or hero because he told the cops "Expletive You".

Why am I fighting to live,
If I am just living to fight
Why am I trying to see.
When there aint nothing in sight
Why am I trying to give,
When no one gives me a try
Why am I dying to live,
If I am just living to die?

#TheJourney: Tupac was making a name for himself as an actor in the years before his death. Do you think he would have ended up on Broadway?

              Musical director Kenny Leon say― 'Holler If Ya Hear Me' to EW;
“California Love” is now a show tune. Tupac Shakur’s legacy forms the backbone of “Holler If Ya Hear Me,” tells a story about family, friendship and community. The world inside Tupac Shakur’s music and lyrics blazes to life in an entertaining new Broadway musical!

You can spend minutes, hours, days, weeks, or even months over-analyzing a situation; trying to put the pieces together, justifying what could've, would've happened... or you can just leave the pieces on the floor and move the fuck on.

The Cutting Edge: Has anyone been paying attention to this crew?
They're #TCB in the most unusual way―

He's Drafting A Blueprint for Music's Future: Through his visibility in television and on social media, there may be no performer better positioned than Blake Shelton to thrive in music’s brave new world.

Earlier this month, the Voice kicked off it’s seventh season and the premiere drew almost 13 million viewers.

This season, Blake will be going for his fourth title, which would be the most of any coach.

Even if he doesn’t win, though, he’ll probably add a couple million more followers to Twitter,

many of whom will likely be interested to hear whether there will be another leg of Ten Times Crazier anytime in 2015. Read Full Article by Jesse Lawrence via Forbes.

This Queen Is: “clearly among the most powerful people in the music industry at the moment … so to understand the operation behind such a powerful figure is always very interesting.”
― Elberse

For those who have somehow forgotten about the seminal news event of the past several years: Without any advance marketing, this music artist released a self-titled album of songs and videos at the stroke of midnight on December 13, 2013, effectively just leaving it on iTunes and walking away. When fans awoke to the stunning news, they found they could buy only the $15.99 album in full—sampling one song at a time was out of the question.

The Queen was able to eschew the standard prerelease industry regimen of advertisements, singles, public appearances, and just generally making any mention of a new album, in part because she is who?,—BeyoncĂ©! Now, Business Professors Are Serious About Studying  The Queen Bey's Method.

There's the straight ahead Lenny Kravitz classic rock mojo that has helped him sell over 40 million albums. Then there's the surprising slight nods to everything from Duran Duran to Cameo. VIBE sat down with the veteran artist, actor, and father of actress Zoe Kravitz to discuss everything from the eyebrow-raising inspiration behind Strut; the racial politics he had to endure in achieving his full blown rock star cred; and finally gaining acceptance in the black community to what makes Stevie Wonder, Prince and Paul McCartney the ultimate badass musicians.— 'Get Rid Of The Guitar'

But I wouldn't do it, and at that time I was living a Ford Pinto. So I don't know what made me hold on. I wanted to be me, but when you are being offered recording deals at 17 and you are living in your car you would think I would be like, "Alright, whatever...I'll make the music y'all want me to make. Let me get this money." But I didn't, and I thank God, because you wouldn't be talking to me today. I would have made one album and it would have been over.

Real-World Music Listening
Whether your favorite song is Bach’s "Toccata And Fugue In D Minor" or Lil Wayne’s "Let It Rock," your brain reacts to it in the same way. When we hear our favorite music, our thoughts tend to shift inward, activating the default mode network (DMN) a network of brain regions that's active when a person is awake but at rest. Our favorite songs also seem to spark a connection between our auditory circuts and the hippocampus, a region responsible for memory and emotions. The real question: Can Your Favorite Song Make You Smarter?

A Must for Any MJ Fan

A FlashToView Moment: REVIEW

There are alot of so called tribute magazines out there. They fall into 3 catagories:

1)Cheaply thrown together in order to make a buck off of Michael. Offering little to no substantial content.

2)Magazines that still vilify him in his death and still feel a need to cover him in lies or negativity. These topics to me include any discussions that involve his appearance or discussion of those false charges which he was found (many forget) NOT GUILTY of.

3)Well, researched, beautiful, work that pays tribute and honor to the man that was Michael Jackson. This falls into the last catagory. Michael had a longstanding relationship with Ebony, even granting them his last interview and photo shoot.

This edition is a beautifully made tribute that the magazine took time in making in order to give fans a true collectors magazine. What makes this magazine special is that it contains many rare photos from Ebony's own archives, interviews from Michael himself, and reflections from his good friends and employees of Michael (including his hairstylist, which I really liked her memories of him :)).

These reflections are not gossip, like what we have been seeing all over the news, but instead, cherished memories of their time spent with him. One of these treats is that from his concert manager who was organizing his tour. He shares with us his last night spent with Michael, the night before he passed. He also speaks about how Michael was so warmed by how the fans had received him. It is heartwarming and tender. This magazine offers much more, but I won't spoil it for anyone. I will just say, if you only get just one, get this one.

The greatest education in the world is watching the masters at work. Michael Jackson
